Candid Timeshare writes for timeshare owners. Our guides aim to answer the question an owner is actually asking in the first paragraph, back every number with a source, and stay on the owner's side.

Sources

We rely on primary sources: state statutes, federal regulators such as the FTC and CFPB, state attorneys general, court records, developers' own SEC filings and program terms, and the industry's own published research. When we cite research paid for by the industry, such as studies commissioned by ARDA, the developers' trade group, we say so. Every guide ends with a numbered list of the sources it relies on.

Exit firms, including the one we work with, are not a source for facts on their own. Where a page repeats a firm's case example, it says whose example it is.

How a guide is checked

  1. Research and drafting. Drafts may be prepared with the help of AI writing tools.
  2. Independent fact-check. A separate reviewer re-opens every source and checks each number, date, legal rule and attribution against it. Claims that cannot be confirmed are cut.
  3. Guardrail review. Every page is checked against our rules: no advice to stop paying, no guaranteed outcomes, no claim that paid help is the only or fastest way out, and a disclosure wherever our partner is named.

We plan to add a licensed attorney reviewer for the legal pages. Until then, our guides are general information and not legal advice.

Updates

Each guide shows the month it was last updated. We revisit pages when a law, a developer program or a fee figure changes, and when a reader tells us something is out of date.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and change the page's update date. Material corrections (a wrong number, deadline, legal rule or attribution) are noted at the foot of the page with the date and what changed. To report an error, email [email protected] with the page address and, if you can, the source that shows the correct information.
